In the district of Beyoglu, pedestrians amble past bars, kebab shops, boutiques, and live-music venues. At the nearby fish market, stands sell skewers of fried mussels on one side of the market and jams and sandwiches on the other. From Istanbul, your client will move on to the rich history of Italy’s capital. Iconic sites like the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Roman Forum are near the top of most visitors’ must-see lists, but there is just as much to explore for those willing to dig a little deeper. The Basilica di San Clemente is a sandwich of ancient churches built on top of each other. Piazza Navona hosted the city’s main market for over 300 years. The catacombs show visitors the ruins of the city that lie beneath the ground—and the public eye. There is no shortage of history in this city that began around 750 BC and is still going strong 28 centuries later.
