Touchdown in Johannesburg for the start of a two week journey exploring the heart of South Africa. Time for some shopping and exploration before heading to Mpumalanga passing through lush subtropical landscape. Further delights await at Kruger National Park where a variety of the country’s wildlife can be glimpsed from your open safari vehicle. Next, wonder at the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland and experience its culture through a visit to its national museum. Souvenir opportunities await during a visit to a candle factory which employs the millefiore glassware technique to create beautiful wax designs. Relax on a cruise of Lake St Lucia, and then pass waving sugar cane fields en route to Durban where there’s time to explore. Fly to Port Elizabeth and then continue by land along the famous Garden route to Knysna. A cruise along Knysna’s Lagoon is a peaceful experience followed by a visit to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. The trip continues to the ‘feather capital of the world’ so named for its ostrich industry. Plenty of time at the endpoint of the trip, Cape Town, to explore beaches, nature reserves and nearby villages. Taste South Africa’s growing wine industry at two well-known wine estates, before undergoing a small history lesson during visits to the Huguenot Memorial Museum and Afrikaans Language Monument.
