This 5-night, 6-day escorted tour combines the architectural marvels of the Khmer Empire in Angkor - a UNESCO World Heritage Archeological Site - with free time to explore Siem Reap, a city that boasts a lovely Old French Quarter from the colonial era and lovely local markets. Also included on the itinerary is guided sightseeing in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. While here an excursion will be made to visit the “Killing Fields,” where the genocide of Cambodians tragically took place during the Khmer Rouge regime under the command of communist leader Pol Pot. It is estimated that 2 million Cambodians were murdered between 1975 and 1979.
