Santiago and Wine Country
[PriceDisp]*

Overview

Explore the parks, markets and distinctive restaurants of Chile's largest city Santiago. When you feel satiated with Santiago's cosmopolitan charms, a short distance away is the Colchagua Valley, the Chilean equivalent of the Napa Valley. The abundant sunshine, great soil and water create the perfect conditions for gorgeous area wines, particularly reds. Carmenere is a varietal that cannot be found anywhere else, so be sure to sample some while you have this special opportunity. In addition to touring the vineyards, hiking and horseback riding are also popular pursuits. Even people who don't consider themselves museum goers are pleasantly surprised by the Colchagua Museum considered one of the best museums in South America. Housed inside a colonial building, the museum gives an overview of Chile and contains artifacts from the pre-Columbian and Colonial eras, an extensive collection of amber, exhibits on the lifestyle of Chilean cowboys, a collection of antique cars and carriages and the Jewels of the Andes collection, which is especially dazzling.
