Travel To Wales A small area of Great Britain, every spot in Wales is near either a gorgeous coastline or a spectacular mountain vista. Visitors travel to Wales year round for great hiking and walks, and to explore a cultural heritage that is centuries old.

Cardiff is the capital of Wales and where much of the action happens. There are two main areas of attractions in Cardiff - there is Cardiff Castle, which is a must-see tour itself - be sure to check out the secret rooftop garden. Around the castle area there are several wonderful parks and gardens where you can walk, bike, or just sit in the grass with a picnic and relax. Just a block or two from the castle is the shopping district, where you'll be able to see several old fashioned shopping arcades perfect for a stroll and window shopping. Many of the best coffee shops, boutique stores, and small snack bars can be found tucked away in these wonderful structures.

The other spot is Cardiff Bay, which is now a very popular nightlife spot. There's a road running around part of the bay to the locks on the other side, which makes for a great bike ride (free bike rental is available) on a sunny day. The bay is also home to a growing number of restaurants, ice cream shops, and bars, all with wide outdoor terraces and tables. There is also a large theater here on the bay.

Two things take travelers to the Welsh countryside: castles and mountains. The hiking in areas such as Snowdonia or Brecon Beacons is world-class, from hidden sandy beaches, peaks to rival those in the Alps, and green hills that are so colorful you may struggle to not think it is just a mirage. The fairytale castles will also leave you speechless; many of them don't seem real, with their trap doors, whimsical architectural features, and scenic views.

Travel to Wales, and bring your camera - you're going to need it.
