Perhaps one of the historically and culturally rich destinations in Europe, Poland has underwent a number of transformations in history, and yet today a visit here you can still see some of its original charms. Be sure to spare as much time as you can to travel to Poland, as there isn't just one but several cities well worth a visit for their architecture, food and drink, and local sightseeing.

Warsaw and Krakow are the most popular spots. Krakow is Poland's main cultural hub, and looking at any of the city's fairytale streets and squares, it is easy to see why - the city itself is a UNESCO world heritage protected zone. The city sits in the shadow of St. Mary's Church, a stunning piece of architecture. There are old city gates, several medieval castles, churches and small palaces, all within the area known as the Old Town. You could spend days exploring these nooks and crannies, much of it from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Warsaw is charming as well, and is the Polish capital. The inner district is where many of the important heritage sites are located; the Palace of Culture and Science is a 42 story megaplex built by the Soviets as a gift to the country in 1955 - it feels part of the city even though architecturally it is out of place. Don't miss the view from the 30th floor. Other unique spots in Warsaw are the Warsaw palm tree (fake, but with a story), Castle Place, and the National Museum, which houses most of Poland's most featured works.

Gdansk, a port city, Katowice, a cultural town, the architecture of Poznan, and the Venice-like town of Wroclaw are just a few of Poland's other famous towns. But no matter where you go in Poland, you're bound to fall in love with this wonderful country.
