These pools are often surrounded by ice, yet the pool itself is warm and heated by magma underneath the island. Otherwise, the landscape defies description. Glaciers that slice their way through fields, waterfalls that plunge from dizzying heights, fjords that take your breath away - Iceland is a place where some of the world's most beautiful outdoors is right there in front of you, without the crowds.
Iceland also has a number of festivals ongoing year-round, so you'll be bound to find one during your visit. Many have a Viking theme, but music and culture also make a regular appearance.
