PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING TOURIST ENTRY VISA INTO AUSTRALIA
APPLIES ONLY TO US CITIZENS
A TOURIST VISA MUST BE OBTAINED BEFORE TRAVELING TO AUSTRALIA

BASIC INFORMATION: A visa can be obtained in several ways:
Online Application - ETA Process:
An ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) is equivalent to a visa and there is no stamp or label in your passport and it is not necessary to submit an application to an Australian diplomatic office. You may directly submit your application online and it will be processed electronically (by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs of Australia). You will see the status of your visa application before leaving the internet ETA system.

To apply via internet for an ETA you will need:

› A current, valid U.S. passport for each traveler valid 3 months beyond intended stay, and

› A valid credit card (American Express, Diners Club, JCB, Mastercard or Visa).

› A non-refundable charge of AUS $20.00 will apply for ETA visa processing.

To apply by mail:
Download from the internet a written visa application form.

You will need:

› A complete application form.

› A current passport for each person traveling.

› A recent passport sized photograph of yourself and any children over two years of age included in your passport.

› Include a fee of US $50 (as of 1 January 2004) payable by cashiers check, money order or credit card. Personal checks are not accepted.

› Include postage and handling fee of US $13 for delivery within the continental US. This fee can be included within your check or money order for your application processing fee. Please note: PO box addresses are not acceptable.

› Mail completed application, fees and required documentation to:
