Plain of Angkor full-day tour: In the morning, visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat, the temple complex covers eighty-one hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. It's distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the twelfth century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat's five towers symbolize Meru's five peaks - the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat, the ocean beyond.
Visit the South Gate (with it's huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (twelfth century), Bayon Temple (unique for it's fifty-four towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Royal Enclosure, Phimenakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the leper King. Sunset at Angkor Wat.

Day 8 : Siem Reap
Breakfast at the hotel
Banteay Srei, Ta Phrom and Ta Som full-day tour: Morning visit to Banteay Srei temple regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer Art.
Continue to one of the area's most beautiful temples. Ta Prohm has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of it's mystery.
In the afternoon, you continue your temple visits to Preah Khan. Built by the king Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however the temple of Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake), Ta Som and Banteay Samre, built in the third quarter of the twelfth century. It consists of a central temple with four wings preceded by a hall and accompanied by two libraries, the southern example remarkably well preserved.

Wonderful Vacation! We had a private car, tourguide and driver for all of the tours in Cambodia and Vietnam - you feel quite spoiled when you see all the tour buses and large groups at various attractions. The temple & market tour were wonderful! Ho Chi Minh City is pretty crazy to get around on your own due to the extreme traffic, noise, language barriers, few crosswalks. We were glad to have a private guide. Our guide even took us to some unscheduled stops including a lacquerware factory and a family that teaches you to make your own rice paper. Our favorite tour was the Mekong Delta - it was great to be out of the HMC craziness and see rural life and small cottage industries. The honey tea is amazing! We stayed at the Chancery Saigon - clean and spacious, rooms were very basic and somewhat dated - but we were happy. Communication w/hotel staff can be difficult. Breakfast was wonderful. The park across the street is also a nice feature. Not many good restaurants nearby. Would recommend staying somewhere closer to city center for that reason.
Cambodia is truly spectacular. This trip was my second time to both Cambodia and Singapore. The town of Siem Reap near Angkor is growing so fast it is amazing. We stayed at the Angkor Hotel - very nice staff, all spoke excellent English, email access was cheap, breakfast was good, the hotel restaurant and bar also have great food and prices (also the best cheeseburger outside the US) - but be sure to try other restaurants in town like The Red Piano Bar or the FCC (our favorites!). We had private tours and car here as well. The ruins are truly amazing. Take the optional elephant ride through the gate into the Bayon - it's a 20 minute ride and is worth it for the pictures and experience. Book an extra day in Siem Reap - your pass into the ruins area is good for an extra day beyond the tours and there is much to see - We did the Silk Worm Farm & Old Market on our free day. Take a tuk-tuk (moto pulling a cart) around town - $10-$15 per day. Will probably return to Cambodia a third time! Everyone is SO FRIENDLY!
Singapore was beautiful, you forget you're outside the US here. I'd recommend upgrading to a hotel off Orchard Road or near an MRT station - the Copthorne was inconvenient and the bathrooms had severe mildew problems. The city tour was a nice introduction to all the areas and they allow you to stay in Little India and walk about the city on your own at the end of the tour. Do use the MRT system to get around, very fast and affordable especially convenient if you buy the fast pass transit cards.
Using Go-Today was a great booking / travel tour experience. I plan to use them again in the future.
