Stockholm – Beauty on Water
Stockholm is a city of contrasts. From the medieval cobblestone passages in the Old Town to the modern city. From the crisp winters to the lively, radiant summers when the sun almost never sinks below the horizon. Built on 14 islands between the Baltic Sea and Lake Mälaren, water is never far away. Neither are the open green spaces that, along with the water, are a dominant motif of the city. The islands are connected by 57 bridges, and each bridge has its own special character. Maybe all this is exactly what helps to make Stockholm a big city with small-town charm.
You’ll get to experience a lot in Sweden’s capital city. And most of it lies within walking distance. From the historic Old Town to the bustling urban ambience downtown takes no more than a five- minute stroll.
Don’t be shy about exchanging a few words with Stockholmers. Most of them speak other languages and are proud to talk about their city – its buildings and museums, but also their favorite cafés or that nice little bar they go to around the corner. When day comes to an end, Stockholm invites you to a lively nightlife. Many clubs stay open to the wee hours of the morning.
There’s always something new going on in Stockholm. Every season of the year beckons with wonderful ways to experience one of the world’s most beautiful capital cities. Discover history, world-famous design, good food, entertainment, and shopping. Welcome!
