If this is your first intoduction, Nadi is located on the west side of the main island of Vitu Levu in the South Pacific Fiji Islands. Set against a backdrop of mountains and surrounded by sugarcane fields, Nadi has a strategic proximity to the international airport that puts most of the islands major hotels and resorts right at your doorstep.
To be sure, Nadi can offer visitors its fair share of restaurants, nightlife, shopping, and sightseeing activities. The streets are lined with colourful markets and shops selling handicrafts, jewellery, artwork, souvenirs and duty free items. Two "must do" tours that stand out are a visit to the elaborate and colourful Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple located at the south end of Nadi’s main street, and one of Nadi's most visible landmarks. The second is a tour of the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, just north of Nadi. The gardens feature Fiji’s largest orchid collection as well as exotic flowers, lily ponds and tropical native vegetation. Nadi is also a convenient base for side trips to explore the surrounding countryside and offshore islands for an extended vacation. In the meantime, wander the streets of this quaint town and enjoy its welcoming spirit and small town appeal.
