Exhibition and backstage theater tour. The Globe Theatre, founded by Sam Wanamaker, is a faithful reconstruction of the Elizabethan playhouse. Now, a second part of Sam's great dream has been realized. Beneath the theatre is the vast UnderGlobe where every aspect of Shakespeare's work is brought imaginatively to life using a combination of modern technology and traditional crafts. Explore Bankside, the Soho of Elizabethan London, follow Sam's struggle to recreate an authentic Globe for the twentieth century and beyond, and take a fascinating tour of today's working theatre.
Tickets are queue jumpers; use the "Fast Track Entry" line - the regular lines are quite long!
Notes
October 10 to May 5: open daily 10am to 5pm, Exhibition and theatre tour.Closed 24 and 25 December.
May 6 to October 9: 9:00 am to midday - theatre tour and exhibition. 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm: Exhibition and visit to the Rose Theatre excavation site, nearby. There is no access to the Globe theatre during matinee performances.
Tours begin every fifteen minutes during opening hours.
Children under 5 free; 5-15 get child rate
