Just returned January 29th. The air carrier, UA, was great. The planes were not fully booked. My sister and I had plenty of comfortable space in which to travel. They were accommodating of her vegetarian diet. The hotel transfer was reliable. The representative was there with sign to find us. He spoke English well and ensured that the hotel accommodations were correct. The hotel was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room wasn't of the highest standard but did meet our needs. Beds were firm, maid service punctual and nonintrusive. The breakfasts in the morning were good way to start each morning: variety of vegetables, mix of western and asian food, cook to order eggs. The location of the hotel was good. It was not far from the Bund and Pudong, train station, Yu'an Gardens, and could take a taxi anywhere in Shanghai for $2 USD. A taxi to the airport was under $20 USD. The weather was good but cold. Bring gloves, scarf and good jacket. If those items are needed, they could be purchased for less than $30 USD at the Xiang Yang Market. Use your bargaining skills. Shanghai during Chinese New Year was a treat. I have never experienced such a fireworks displays. The city was a warzone of celebration.
