Arrive in Zagreb and delight in its cobblestoned streets and lovely churches. Feel wonder at Plitvice Lakes National Park with its breathtaking terraced lakes. Onwards to Split, over 1,700 years old, to explore the Palace of the Emperor Diocletian in this city so rich in history. Then it’s time to embark on a relaxing Croatian cruise. Stop in Brac, known for its stone quarries, before continuing to Makarska where visitors enjoy ambling along the palm-fringed promenade overlooking the attractive harbor. Next set sail to the island of Korcula, one of the greenest in the Adriatic with its dense woods. Associated with its most famous inhabitant, Marco Polo, the island is the only place where the Moreska sword dance is still performed. Sail on to the city of Dubrovnik, where the sun sparkles off the white walls that enclose the city and its treasures. View the Rector’s Palace, now a city museum, and the Onofrio Fountain constructed in the 15th century by an Italian architect. Set off to Mljet National Park, said to be the mythical home of the witch Calypso from Homer’s Odyssey, as well as the place where Saint Paul was shipwrecked. The next port is the island of Hvar, its hilltop fortress overlook the stunning harbor and providing views of nearby islands. Return to Split, via Brac Island, with its limestone reliefs and marvelous bay, before departing for home.
