As part of this package, you will stay 3 nights in London and 3 nights in Edinburgh. Both of these capital cities boast a truly rich cultural heritage and are rife with excellent sightseeing attractions for you to visit. This package already includes a City Sightseeing Tour in Edinburgh (Hop-On, Hop-Off bus with audio-guide commentary), which allows you to conveniently visit this city at your own pace; spend time in the places most interesting to you. Weather-wise, August is probably the best month of the year to visit Scotland. It’s also undeniably the most exciting month of the year because of the annual Edinburgh Festival. A bit of a misnomer, The Edinburgh Festival refers to numerous cultural and art festivals that Edinburgh hosts in the summer (primarily August). After the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is the second largest event in the Edinburgh Festival.
The Tattoo is very Scottish while also being very international. Since its inception over 60 years ago, military bands from over 40 nations have participated in the Tattoo. So while you will surely hear the British Armed Forces play classics like “The Garb of Old Gaul” and “Dumbarton's Drums,” you will also see international marching bands from China, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, France, and South American countries. The audience too is comprised of local Scots and visitors from all over the world. We can’t even call it a once-in-a-lifetime experience, because many travelers return year after year for the international camaraderie, fantastic ambience and great music.
In addition to absolutely enjoying all the excitement taking place in Edinburgh, this package also gives you three days to explore enticing London and its many cultural offerings. London is home to some of the most impressive museums and art galleries in the world. It offers visitors green parks, royal palaces, international cuisine, Shakespeare’s Globe, afternoon tea, fantastic theatre, fish & chips, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, the Charles Dickens’ Museum and cruises down the River Thames.
Make 2013 the year you decide to cross the pond to enjoy some of the very best of Great Britain.
